How to download and install Melty

Melty is distributed as a Windows installer called “Melty Setup” from the official site. These are the official steps, plus the checks worth doing first.

The three official steps

  1. Open Melty Setup. Run the file from your Downloads folder. Melty says it “installs in a few seconds and opens Melty on its own” melty.gg/download.
  2. Pick a mashup. Browse what players have made; mashups use games you already own melty.gg/download. See popular ones.
  3. Press Play. Melty “sets up everything the mashup needs on your PC and starts it”, and you can invite friends with a link melty.gg/download.

Before you install: a short checklist

Accounts and sign-in

Some features need a Melty account; the Privacy Policy lists email sign-up and Google sign-in Melty Privacy Policy. For Minecraft mashups, the app keeps your Minecraft sign-in on your PC, encrypted by Windows, and says it is never sent to Melty; it is used by Prism Launcher with Microsoft Melty Privacy Policy.

Uninstalling and removing a mashup

According to the FAQ, uninstalling “puts every file back as it was” melty.gg FAQ; the Terms explain this works because the app keeps a copy of each file it replaces Melty Terms. To revoke the Minecraft sign-in, remove Prism Launcher’s access from your Microsoft account; removing the Melty app’s data deletes the local copy Melty Privacy Policy.

“Melty could not load” / not working

Melty has not published a troubleshooting page that we could find. What the official pages do establish: it only supports Windows, needs the games installed and owned, and installs mod loaders and tools from third-party sources Melty Terms. Melty’s Discord is the support channel it links from its site melty.gg FAQ. Failed installs are reported back to the creator with short error details Melty Privacy Policy.
